How Did it get to this Point:

While desperately trying to stay awake watching my beloved Red Sox win the second World Championship in my lifetime, something occurred to me. Why are these games ending after 1AM??? Apparently Chevy and Taco Bell provide MLB enough fans that Bud Selig can write off generations of it's young future fans and see the rest fade away as they get ready for work on Monday.
So it got me thinking? What doesn’t corporate America inject itself into and then immediately corrupt and destroy? The presidency, congress, The Pentagon, Schools, hospitals, the planet, our diet, children’s Cloths and Toys, the legal System, the developing world, NOW BASEBALL! Lead-paint in baby bibs, arsenic in dog food, contracted Army escorted delivery runs of sail boat fuel through a war zone, laws preventing price negotiation with pharmaceutical companies written by the same companies?????
Whose fault is it?

The news media that refuses to cover real news and instead brings us 24/7 breaking news on STAFF h, Sorry I mean SUPERBUG!), the summer of the shark, and OJ Simpson?

The Lawmakers we place at the gate (THough usually by default not by vote) who step aside whenever a special interest group waives a dollar so they gauranteee thier next No-Bid Contract?

The 90%+ who either don’t vote or simply vote for the candidate with the best smile?

My bet is on the later. The greatest Nation in the history of the planet is populated with a citizenry that know more about a missing blonde high school student in Aruba then they do about their our countries actions. A country that wants a $.50 head of lettuce but insists that illegal immigrants (Not the company that hires them) is our biggest problem.

Everything that a reasonable person would see as insanely wrong is our own doing.

Some of us are paying attention, but we do nothing (In a few instances do something but accomplish nothing). Sadly the vast vast vast majority aren’t even paying attention. CNN Ratings are up?????? Why would they stop covering a dead crack whore stripper from Houston to discuss the raising fuel prices that go hand in hand with record Exxon profits and planet pollution? Why would a politician run an honest campaign on issues and real substance when they can take unlimited money from Bechtel without even an eyebrow being raised? Why would a School replace Coke and Taco Bell in its cafeteria if the parents send their kids to school with lunch money and never question what was served? Why would Wal-Mart buy American if their margins can triple buying from China, and how can a manufacture compete and take the moral high ground by settling in Pittsburg instead of Calcutta?

So hmmmmm now I am ranting without a solution? If I am right and it is our fault then I unless I do something I am part of the problem. Now it’s obviously too big to fix and I really need to get some work done so here are some links that might help:

Please take a second to visit some of these links or add some of your own favorites. Oh and I almost forgot to congradualte the Boston Red Sox, Chevy, and Taco Bell for a great world championship. Sorry MLB and TNT maybe next year it will all come together.

On the Brink of Greatness, or past it?

Maybe it’s me, but I am on the verge of possibly witnessing the second world series in my lifetime, and I know that my lasting memory will be of the ALCS not the Series? I will never forget Foulke, Tek, and Mientkiewicz colliding after Renteria’s groundout like it was yesterday, but the rest of the series vs. St Louis not a single other play. I will never forget freezing my ass of smoking a Cig during the lunar eclipse looking in the window watching the Yankees series. I remember every game of the come back, but nothing from the World Series prior to the last out!
I feel that when the 2007 series is over, I will remember the last out only and every at bat of the ALCS. I will remember destroying Colorado in game 1 but ask me the score this time next year. I will remember Schil’s (If it is) last start as in Boston, and that he won a pitchers duel, but will I remember it for the World Series or because it’s the end of an era? I am not complaining, just reflecting and hoping I remember the 07 WS as the highlight of the year and not the ALCS like I did in 04. That being said, I wouldn’t want it any other way then the Sox in 4!

I'm Telling You, It's the Pie

I know it may sound crazy, but it’s all about the Lucky Red Sox Pie. Proof you say!

Well to know the power of the pie one first must go back to game 4 of the ALCS. While visiting family back in Boston, my brother Scott and I( though fully prepared to witness another heartbreaking season close) were all the masochistic Sox fans across the globe settling in for the game. Being November it was apple season in New England and we decided to make an apple pie. Having ahh hmmm indulged a bit by games end the Red Sox were still alive and the pie was completely gone.
So, the next game Scott and I made another pie and this time forced our way through the whole thing, and yep you guessed it the sox won again. This went on for the next 6 games 1 game one pie and 8 straight wins, which brings us to 2007! Game 1 made a pie (not because of luck just because I wanted a damn pie. No Pie in Game 2, 3, or 4 but then I released the error of my way and threw a pie together for Games 5, 6, and 7………….. Well the game starts in 5 and my daughter and I are about to watch the game while my wife laughs at me in my jearsy, her in her pink hat jumper, eating my pie, and holding my breath without moving a muscle as each pitch is delived........

Up to now

Well as I mentioned I am living down here in sunny sunny sunny Austin Texas and I love my life here. Leaving my family 2,000 miles away can be tough, but my adopted family the Kilmer’s has been amazingly accepting (Now that I have their granddaughter they don’t really have a choice). Why Texas…. Hmmm good question. I have actually left a few times swearing never to return (Way too red down here fro me, 29.5 of the 31% must reside in Texas. as folks outside of my Austin stronghold still actually support the smirking chimp and his crime family and do so proudly proves the power of spin and that the heard will believe anything????) when I was dropped off in San Antonio after my time in the Air force. Flat, featureless, brown, unbearably hot, Texas can be hell. It used to make me actually think January in Boston wasn’t all that bad. All that being said though Austin is a true oasis; in the friendly people and their open mindedness the hills, the trees and lakes it’s the one place in Texas I said I would gladly return to live when I last left Texas and I couldn’t be happier with my choice.

So what else…. My wife Regan and I have a perfect little girl who just turned 6 Months yesterday! Brady Lynn (Named after Brady Texas and Lynn Mass {Tom Brady Didn’t even factor in the choice I swear :-}o is an angel and as cliché as it sounds “Changed my life the second she arrived.” So much in fact that I no longer smoke and have decided that in Jan I will be going back to school for my MBA to be a better role model for her. Professionally things are great, I am the director of National Accounts for an IT company, and am feeling pretty secure these days, and Regan is a stay at home mom displaying patience I am amazed by while spending her days with Brady.

See you all back in Boston on our visit in Nov

Soylent Green is People

It appears I am the last human on earth to start a blog so I guess now I will commit a major faux pas and follow the heard as the alternative of being different just to be different is even worse.

Will anyone read this? Probably not thought some of those who know me best might, if for no other reason then to laugh at my creative spelling. Funny 37 years old and I still trip over my own last name????

So I guess the 1st step is to determine the focus and purpose of my blog. Hmm Maybe I should wait until my next entry so the suspense creates a return reader…. Nahh that wont work…..Well, I have traveled and lived all over the world, and have left many friends and family miles away. I am passionate about Boston Sports and Politics, so I will go after the obvious: My life, my love of certain people and utter disgust with the rest as a whole, and my obsession with the Sox and Pats.
